The City of Abbeville is accepting applications for a Maintenance Supervisor. The Maintenance Supervisor will be expected to perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance work; relating to the management and maintenance of wastewater treatment plant and operates a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of City water, sewer, street, and storm drainage facilities and system; and serves on various employee or other committees as assigned.

Desired minimum qualifications are as follows: Graduation from high school education or GED equivalent, and four (4) years of experience relating to construction, maintenance or repair, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. The Maintenance Supervisor will need considerable knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods and procedures used in maintenance, construction and repair activities; skill in operation of some of the listed tools and equipment; ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time; ability to work safely; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public; ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.

The Maintenance Supervisor will need: A valid driver's Georgia state driver's license (not optional); a CDL certification or ability to obtain one; certification as a Water Operator Class 3 or the ability and willingness to obtain one and/or certification as a Wastewater operation Class 4 or the ability and willingness to obtain one.
